The ocean is a giant mystery, and scientists are discovering new sea creatures and hidden worlds all the time! Even though 70% of Earth is covered in water, we’ve explored less than 10% of the deep ocean – meaning there are still thousands of species waiting to be found.

Recently, explorers sent high-tech submarines deep below the ocean’s surface and found glowing jellyfish, fish with see-through heads, and even underwater volcanoes. In 2024, researchers spotted a strange, golden orb at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean that might be a new deep-sea creature – but no one knows for sure yet!Some parts of the ocean are so deep and dark that no sunlight ever reaches them. Yet, life still thrives! Giant squid, ghostly sharks, and bizarre fish with huge teeth call these depths home.

Scientists believe that the deep sea might even help us learn more about space! The extreme conditions at the bottom of the ocean are similar to what astronauts might face on other planets. Some researchers think that if life can survive in the deep sea, it might exist on other planets too!
